SECRETS GUIDE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This document does not tell you where to find the secrets.
So there are no spoilers here.

This document is about how I set up the secrets system.
It's a bit complicated. ;-)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've used several different outfits in these levels and I therefore had to use the
ResetHUB line in the script to make the leveljumps possible.
One can not take puzzle items from one level to the next because of this.
One can however take 'quest-items' from one level to the next! :-)
So... this called for a different approach to the secrets business because I wanted
the secrets to be something special, instead of the usual inventory items
like weapons, medipacks and so on.

You can collect one 'quest-item' in each level or in two joined levels.
To get to them you first need to collect all other secrets in the level.
If you have been unable to find the secret items and use them to get the
'quest-item' you will lose the secret items with certain leveljumps.

Below is a 'Secrets guide'.
It tells you what items are secret items and which 'quest-item' you can get with them.
It also has some background info about the meaning of the items.

LEVEL NAME				SECRETS

Crashed					1 => 1 Yeti Bone

					The Yeti is a mysterious creature that is said to roam the
					remote areas of the Himalayan Mountains.

Icy Waters				4 => 4 Prayer Wheels

					Prayer Wheels are used in mantras, such as the 'Om Mani Padme Hum' mantra.

Denboche Monastery 3 => 2 Prayer Wheels: use all six Wheels to get 1 Lotus Flower.

					The Lotus Flower ('padma' in Tibetan) is one of
					the 'Eight bringers of Happiness and Luck' symbols
					It represents purity, especially purity of the mind/spirit.

					You can go back to 'Icy Waters' to retrieve still missing Prayer Wheels.

					NOT USED PRAYER WHEELS WILL VANISH FROM YOUR INVENTORY
					WHEN GOING INTO THE 'FROZEN IN TIME' LEVEL!

Tannhauser Gate 3 => 2 Prayer Flags: use them to get 1 Dharma Wheel

					Prayer Flags are pieces of cloth printed with sacred mantras
					and/or images of, for example, Buddha.
					Each Flag has a specific purpose, such as medicinal.

					The Dharma Wheel (chos-kyi khor-lo in Tibetan) is also one of
					the 'Eight bringers of Happiness and Luck' symbols.
					It represents completeness and perfectness and the wish to expand this.

					NOT USED PRAYER FLAGS WILL VANISH FROM YOUR INVENTORY
					WHEN GOING INTO THE 'FROZEN IN TIME' LEVEL!

Frozen in time - Settlement 1 => 1 Orb Piece

Frozen in Time - To the Starship	2 => 1 Orb Piece
					- combine both Orb Pieces to form the Orb
					- Use the Orb to get the 1 Yavi'ny Gha'rth

					An orb (or circle) is considered to be divine because of its perfect smooth shape.

					The Gha'rth is a powerfull healing tool. But it can do a lot of damage when
					it is used wrongfully.

					Cai'Xia Stone (Chai Sha Stone)
					Cai means colourfull, Xia means fog/mist,
					so 'Cai'Xia Stone' literally means the beautiful lights and mist stone.
					No one really knows its power but when Lara took the stone away, in China,
					the place it was hidden in collapsed.
					Perhaps it gives the power of levitation?

Yavi'ny Starship - Beginnings		0

Yavi'ny Starship - Engineering		1 => 1 Galaxy
					The Galaxy is simply a miniature model of the galaxy.

Yavi'ny Starship - Hydroponics		0

EXPLANATION OF OTHER USED SYMBOLS

* TIBETAN SYMBOLS:

The Tibetan culture has many categories of different symbols.
One of those categories is the 'Eigth bringers of Happiness and Luck', as mentioned above.

Another category is the 'Eight Bringers of Good Fortune' symbols.
I've used five of these symbols as puzzle items.

The symbols are often used in paintings. Actual substances are used during
rituals while chanting sacred texts (mantras).

Mirror - The mirror is clear and shiny and it reflects phenomena impartially.
			  Symbolises the mind as clear and perceiving.

The Ghiwang - Gall-stone found in oxen.
			  Traditional medicine: soothing, calming.
			  Symbolic of clean body and mind.

The Mustard Seeds	- Offered as an antidote to those forces (demons) standing in wisdom's way.
			  Also burnt while reciting mantras to prevent illnesses caused by demons.

The Durva Grass - Its power of regeneration symbolises the endless cycle of birth and death.
			  Symbol for a long life or for the wish to live longer.

The Cinnabar - Also know as Vermillion, which has a bright reddish orange colour.
			  It is used to dye cloth or to paint the tilaka on the
			  forehead during rituals.
			  Symbolises the power of awareness and self-control.

* The other three (not used) symbols are:

The Bilva Fruit - Offerings are reminders of purification & enlightenment.

The Yoghurt - Yoghurt has been and still is an important part of a nutritious meal.
			  Symbolises the process which leads to purification.

The Conch Shell - (right-turning) - a symbol of the desire to spread the teaching of Buddha.
			  It is also part of the group of Eight bringers of Happiness and Luck symbols.

* OM MANI PADME HUM
Om Mani Padme Hum, is probably the most widely known Buddhist prayer, found all over the world. This
sacred mantra is inscribed on mani stones, tibetan prayer flags, rock walls, village entrances, at
temples and auspicious sites, and in prayer wheels, jewelry, oraments etc. It is difficult to
translate into english all of the many meanings that this prayer encompasses, but literally the six
syllables are "Hail the jewel in the heart of lotus" or "Behold! The jewel in the lotus!"
It is thought that all the teachings of the Buddha are contained in this one prayer, and that the
recitation of the mantra helps achieve perfection in the six practices from generosity to wisdom.
Speaking the prayer aloud, writing it, or viewing the written form are all said to benifit ones karma,
by invoking the peaceful & benevolent blessings of Chenrezig,the embodiment of compassion.
Also called Avalokiteshvara (Sanskrit), he is a protector, and thus the invocation is chanted as a
mantra of protection against evil and harm.
